Case 03 · The Herbal Trifecta · Brand & content strategy

Nobody was searching for moringa. Everybody was searching for matcha.

A small Kerala wellness brand with no category and no audience. The strategy was to borrow both — matcha's demand, and other people's reach.

A superfood with no demand behind it

The Herbal Trifecta makes moringa, amla, jackfruit and banana powders — genuinely good products in a category that barely exists in the consumer mind. Moringa isn't a want; it's an ingredient people meet after they've decided to care.

Meanwhile matcha had everything moringa didn't: a ritual, an aesthetic, a price premium people accepted without argument, and an audience already looking for it every day.

A brand this size can't build a category — that takes years and a budget nobody had. So the question wasn't how to make people want moringa. It was how to reach people already reaching for something adjacent.

Skip matcha. Choose moringa.

Matcha isn't a competitor — it's a different plant in a different supply chain. Which is exactly why it was the right thing to stand against. Naming the leader borrows its entire audience in one line, and turns an unfamiliar powder into a legible choice: the greener green.

It ran as a full argument, not a slogan. A carousel that set the comparison up as a contest, walked through matcha's real drawback — the caffeine spike and the crash — and landed on moringa without disparaging anything. An explainer on exactly how much caffeine sits in a teaspoon of matcha. A moringa latte built to be visually interchangeable with the drink people already ordered.

Every piece did the same job: make moringa arrive inside a decision people were already making.

From a product to #TheMoringaMovement

A powder is a purchase. A movement is an identity — and identity is the only thing that makes someone forgive a small brand for being small.

So the positioning moved from what's in the packet to what taking it says about you — someone choosing the rooted thing over the imported one, the ritual over the trend. The account's own language followed: nature's wholesome rituals, discover your ritual.

The hashtag sits in the brand's bio today. Of everything here, that's the part I'd point at — the framing outlived the campaign that carried it.

The brand's account had a few hundred followers. Its ideas had three hundred thousand views.

This is the part I'd put in front of any founder running a small brand. The owned account was never going to be the lever — a few hundred followers is a rounding error, and no amount of good content changes that on a timeline that matters.

What worked was putting the same ideas into hands that already had an audience. I ran the creator programme end to end: identifying micro-creators whose audiences actually overlapped, the outreach, the negotiation and signing, the brief, and communication through to delivery.

The results weren't marginal — they were the difference between a few dozen people seeing something and a few hundred thousand. And the saves matter more than the views, because a save on a wellness video is someone planning to act.
